Missing in Action 1945

(click to enlarge so you can read it)
This telegram is one of my favorite things that I have as far as family history goes. I can not imagine recieving this letter as a parent.
Nana tells us about this, here is what she said....
the news of Lincoln missing in action came while we were in Phoenix for my wedding. My mother and I and some friends were at the apartment in Mesa getting things ready to go to the temple when the news came over the radio. Everyone in the room heard it except mother and I. Since we didn't hear it, they decided not to tell us because they didn't want to ruin my special day. Verl and I rode home to SJ with my mom and dad, and I remember my dad running in the house to see if there was any new news about Lincoln. That was the first that my mother and I heard about him going missing in action.
It bring chills to think about what it must have been like for Pammy and Grandad and for Lincoln himself. I so wish that he were here to tell about this time in his life. I don't know for sure how long it was until they finally got word that Lincoln had been snuck out and was on his way home, but I am sure it was the longest days of their lives.
