Heap of Mineers

This blog is dedicated to all of those who came before us and paved the way so that we are where we are today. It is facinating to learn about our ancestors, the more we learn the more we feel like we know them and the more we come to love them.
In return for learning about and loving them, I feel that love come back to me and I know that (my ancestors) and our Heavenly Father are pleased with my desire to know more. There are so many blessings that come from seeking out our herritage, we are told that we will feel the Spirit of Elijah when we work on family history. I can tell you that it it true, you really will feel his spirit and find that you want to know more & feel that there is someone else out there who is waiting to be found.
I have been collecting pictures and letters and whatever other information I can find. I wanted to have a place to share what I have found that's the reason for this blog. I am hoping that by sharing what I know, you (the readers) will have a desire to know more and help me in my quest of finding more ancestors.

Wedding July30, 1954

Does anyone know if there are any other wedding pictures? Like with them looking at the camera or of other people at the wedding? If so, please share and share any details you have.

Letter from a Mother

This is a letter from Mama Mel to Grams on Grams wedding day, I think it is so sweet and really a treasure to have, I'm glad that Grams saved it.

I love this letter, I have read it many times. Tears come to my eyes each time I read it. I can picture Mama Mel writing this to her so young daughter and I can feel the love she had for Grams, you can feel how sincere she was in writing the letter and giving a little Motherly advice. My favorite line is on the first page almost to the bottom where she says, "such a happy wild little girl, never quiet at all!" Is that our Grams or what! No wonder Grams missed her mom so much and always told us so!!

In my mind Mama Mel was always really old, and kinda crabby, but this letter gives me a different view of her. My mom said she wasn't always crabby, that she was really very nice and loving. I would love to hear from those of you who knew Mama Mel. Any stories or memories you have of her would be great. Email them to me and I will post them so everyone can get to know her a little better.

Friday April 7, 1961

Grams gave me this paper a couple of years ago hoping that I would be able to get it preserved because it is really fragile and falling apart, so far no luck. Maybe I will take it to BYU, I'm sure they could do it.

Papa boy, oh so cute!

This was the first picture I had seen of Papa Mineer as a little boy. Now I know why we have such cute kids in this family! I see lots of us in papa, Von, Jake, Uncle Mark, Cameron... what do you think?

Grammy Doll

I am not sure the date of this photo, it wasn't writeen anywhere. If someone knows the date please let me know. This is my favorite picture of Grams, seriously what a DOLL. I wish they still took pictures like this.
